Electro-Voice’s Compact XLD Line Array in Scotland

Electro-Voice’s new compact line array, the XLD, was deployed by FMX Rentals for the Cash for Kids charity concerts in Scotland. The events were sponsored by West Sound Radio and featured UK chart names such as Liberty X, Girls Aloud and McFly.

The FMX team used the XLD system as the main P.A. at the two venues: Easterbrook Town Hall in Dumfries and the Ayr Racecourse. The P.A. was set up with 12 XLD281 full-range boxes and four XS212 subs, with additional XLC118 subs. The system was powered by E-V P3000 RL series amplifiers, which are controlled remotely by E-V’s proprietary IRIS (Intelligent Remote Integrated Supervision) management software. The shows were mixed from a Midas Heritage 2000 console running Klark Teknik’s DN9340 Helix EQ, which provides wireless control over all the commonly used EQ functions, allowing instant and simultaneous online control of up to 64 channels of EQ from a tablet computer.
