At Winter NAMM 2007, Focusrite unveiled the Saffire Pro 10 i/o FireWire audio interface, featuring the same preamps and converters as the original Saffire. It also offers the same I/O and monitoring control software, SaffireControl Pro, as well as Compression, Reverb, Amp Modeling and EQ VST/Audio Units plug-ins. In addition, multiple units can be combined and controlled via the same control platform to create larger recording setups.
The 19-inch rackmount unit with detachable rack ears combines eight channels of Focusrite preamplification with eight balanced line outputs and stereo S/PDIF I/O. As with all Saffire products, the unit can be either bus-powered or powered via an external power supply.
SaffireControl Pro software offers custom mix solutions and quick-select “tracking” and “playback” options, as well as the same float and shrink/expand features found in the original Saffire unit.
Saffire Pro 10 i/o also features MIDI I/O alongside additional processing features, including highpass filters on every channel and two channels with DI and assignable insert points. The front panel also has two independent headphone outputs with volume control that are customizable within SaffireControl Pro.
