Focusrite’s Dream Recording Competition, Studio Console Documentary

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the founding of Focusrite Audio Engineering Ltd., and 29 years since the creation of the Focusrite brand, the company announces its Dream Recording Competition, offering a musician and three bandmates an opportunity to record a track with Grammy Award-winning producer Guy Massey at AIR Studios in London, UK. The lucky winners will spend an all expenses paid weekend in the inspiring environment of the legendary AIR Studios, where Focusrite’s original Rupert Neve designed recording console modules still live today.

Massey (whose credits include The Beatles, Manic Street Preachers, Ed Sheeran) will be at the helm of the recording session, helping the winner to craft the song. The winner’s finished song will then be sent to one of London’s finest mastering engineers.

Focusrite has also released a documentary about the company’s history. Having developed modules for leading mixing consoles, the company launched its first recording console, the Focusrite Forté. A streamlined version called the Studio Console was put into production later. Only 10 Studio Consoles were ever made, and six remain in operation to this day. The documentary tells the stories of these consoles and the people who used them.
