Gepco Introduces X–Band Series Cables at AES 2007

Gepco XB20UB X-Band unbalanced guitar/instrument cable

Gepco International introduced the XB20UB X-Band unbalanced guitar/instrument cable and the XB401FB X-Band double-shielded single-pair analog cable at the 123rd AES Convention. The first unbalanced cable in the X-Band Series, the XB20UB offers users X-Band performance in guitar and instrument applications. The XB401FB is a double-shielded (foil and braid) version of Gepco’s original XB401 single-pair audio cable.

The XB20UB features a heavy-gauge (20AWG) oxygen-free copper conductor for maximum conductivity and corrosion resistance. To provide exceptional EMI/RF rejection and low triboelectric handling noise, the XB20UB has two densely stranded 95% copper braid shields combined with a semi-conductive PVC layer. As with all X-Band cables, the XB20UB has a data-grade, foam dielectric that significantly reduces the capacitance of the cable. The outer jacket is constructed from Gepco’s G-Flex PVC compound, which is said to be exceptionally flexible, easy to strip and resistant to abrasion.

Featuring a low-capacitance and low-noise design, XB401FB single-pair cable is recommended for permanent installation in critical audio applications. The XB401FB conductors are made from finely stranded 24AWG oxygen-free copper to allow for maximum conductivity and corrosion resistance. For exceptional RF/EMI noise rejection, the XB401FB features two shields—a 95% TC braid and a 100% foil shield—as well as precision, high-twist conductor pairing. Each conductor is insulated with a data-grade foam dielectric for low capacitance and easy termination. The outer jacket is constructed from Gepco’s G-Flex compound that is said to be extra-flexible and easy to strip.
