Globalstor Unveils ExtremeStor-Capella at AES 2007

Globalstor Data Corporation, an OEM integrator of high-performance RAID, SAN and storage/video servers, debuted its ExtremeStor-Capella at the 123rd AES Convention in New York City. The 4GB Fiber Channel Host data storage solution is designed to support the most rigorous uncompressed audio and video sessions for both direct attached and SAN implementations.

Scaling anywhere between 16 and 80 TB on a single system that requires minimal rackspace, the newest addition to Globalstor’s ExtemeStor Series of server platforms offers online capacity expansion at both SAS and SATA II disk levels. Its next-generation enterprise dual disk architecture is designed to simplify management and growth for a full range of applications. Equipped with an embedded Web-based GUI, Globalstor’s Capella provides one or more views of enclosures from a centralized console. Industry standard protocols are used for employing and monitoring “all” cable-less hardware components, enabling IT staff to set parameters for disbursing pop-up messages and e-mail notifications to appropriate personnel, insuring against any single point of failure.

Globalstor’s ExtremeStor-Capella is offered in either a single or dual active controller, both of which run failover/failback operations through onboard redundant data paths to back-end dual-ported SAS and SATA disk drives. Its RAID functions include 0, 1, 1E, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, any of which can be combined and co-exist simultaneously.

The ExtremeStor-Capella starts at $8,200 MSRP with 4 TB of usable storage.
