Golf Tournament in Malibu to Support Inner-City Filmmakers

The Motion Picture Sound Editors are hosting a golf tournament September 14 at the Malibu Country Club. The “best ball” tournament is open to golfers of all levels with proceeds benefiting the organization Inner-City Filmmakers, as well as MPSE’s own Ethel Crutcher Scholarship Fund.

“This tournament will give all players an extraordinary opportunity to help youth discover their potential and support the course of future filmmakers,” says MPSE president Bobbi Banks. “Lives can and will be changed through your participation!”

Registration begins at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. MPSE will also hold a silent auction as part of the tournament, featuring audio hardware and software, memorabilia and other items. The awards dinner and silent auction are scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Inner-City Filmmakers provides scholarships for continuing education and advancement in the film and television profession through MPSE’s Ethel Crutcher Scholarship Fund. Inner-City Filmmakers was developed in 1992 during the Los Angeles civil unrest. Since 1993, ICF has been guided by its founding goal of providing free year-round professional, technical and business skills training and paid work opportunities to low-income inner city students where they can gain knowledge, perfect skills and develop their potential to the fullest extent.
