More than one hundred people attended the “From Home to Studio” conference that took place on Sunday, April 30 at the Village Recorder in West Los Angeles. Guest panelists included producers Bobby and IZ Avila (Usher, Janet Jackson); engineer/producer, author and educator Jose “Chilitos” Valenzuela; sound engineer Scottie Pakulski (Prince, Madonna); producer/mixer Ian Boxill (Babyface, Christina Milian); producer Neal Pogue (Outkast, Toni Braxton); and engineer/producer Khaliq Glover (Prince, Herbie Hancock).

“Folks who attended had a chance to go into the studio and get a quick crash course at the same time,” says Bobby Avila. “It’s a great place to network because this industry’s about making connections.”

“From Home to Studio” creator Dave Hampton will launch a series of small conferences next year that will have a similar interactive approach for musicians, producers, engineers and songwriters.
