Humpin’ Hannah’s Venue Upgrades with JBL VP Series Loudspeakers

Humpin’ Hannah’s in Boise, Idaho, a tri-level venue that serves as both a live rock club and dance club, recently upgraded its sound system with JBL Professional VP Series powered loudspeakers. Located in the heart of downtown Boise, Humpin’ Hannah’s has been a staple of the city’s nightlife since it opened almost 29 years ago. Having worn out its existing 10-year-old loudspeaker system, Hannah’s needed a new high-performance system that could serve a variety of events.

“We average almost 1,000 people on any given Saturday night, so we needed a P.A. system that could handle a lot of volume but was lightweight enough to reconfigure if necessary,” says Rocci Johnson, co-owner of Humpin’ Hannah’s and lead singer of the club’s house band, the Rocci Johnson Band.

After a demonstration of the JBL VP Series, Johnson elected to purchase four VP7215/64DPAN loudspeakers. The VP7215/64DPAN is a powered bi-amplified full-range loudspeaker designed for portable or installed use. It offers 60×40-degree coverage and features a 15-inch Differential Drive low-frequency driver for extended low-frequency output.

“Having the built-in Crown amplification was a huge selling point,” Johnson adds. “It’s so nice to have the amps enclosed, and they don’t interfere with the sound at all. We get very clean sound out of them, and it’s very easy to move the speakers around for different events.”

Additionally, since the VP Series loudspeakers can be programmed individually, they were an ideal fit for the multi-room venue. “We can turn down the high end in the upstairs area without affecting the downstairs system, if we have to,” Johnson concludes.
