IK Multimedia Offers AmpliTube for iPhone

IK Multimedia iRig interface

IK Multimedia in Modena, Italy, recently announced that its AmpliTube software is available for download from the iTunes App Store. AmpliTube is a mobile guitar amp and effects system for iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad. AmpliTube iRig, a combination of AmpliTube mobile app and iRig accessory adapter, represents a solution that allows guitar and bass players to play through an iPhone.

AmpliTube for iPhone is available in free, LE ($2.99) and full ($19.99) versions, and offers a choice of five amp models (clean, crunch, lead, metal and bass) with full tone and drive controls, 11 stomp box effects (delay, flanger, phaser, overdrive, distortion, filter, wah, fuzz, octave, chorus and noise filter), five speaker cabinets (1×12, 2×12, 4×12 A & B, 1×15) and two microphones (dynamic and condenser). Plus, AmpliTube for iPhone features a chromatic digital tuner and a metronome. Users can import and play along with songs or backing tracks, and create, save and recall up to 36 presets on the fly.

The iRig interface adapter connects the instrument signal to a mobile device with electrical impedance adapting for achieving a high-quality guitar tone. Plug iRig into a mobile device, plug a guitar or bass into the iRig, plug headphones or an amplifier to the output; no further set-up needed. Plus, iRig can be used with line level signal sources such as synthesizers, keyboards or mixers, and it’s said to work with any other guitar or other instrument recording, processing or tuning app that uses an audio input.

IK Multimedia states that users can add more gear can to free and LE versions through in-app purchase of a-la-carte models with stomp boxes costing $2.99 each and amplifiers + cabinets for $4.99 each. The company says that pre-orders for the iRig interface adapter are available through IK’s selected dealers and from the IK online Store for $39.99 MSRP (excluding taxes).
