Infrasonic Hosts Raffle for Silverlake Conservatory of Music

Infrasonic Sound Recording Company—an independent recording studio, CD & vinyl mastering suite and boutique record label located in East Los Angeles—will host a raffle this holiday season to benefit one of its favorite local charities, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. Raffle prizes include one day of free studio time at Infrasonic Sound, a three-song mastering session with chief engineer Pete Lyman and new recording equipment from Vintage King Audio, the world’s largest dealer of high-end new and vintage recording equipment. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Silverlake Conservatory of Music.

The raffle is not limited to L.A. residents; mastering sessions may be done remotely and gear can be shipped.

Founded in 2001 by Keith Barry and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music is a non-profit organization whose primary focus is to facilitate basic music education for the youth of the community, although all are encouraged to participate. The Conservatory offers private music lessons at a reasonable cost and grants scholarships to children in need, providing free lessons and instruments. Recently, the Conservatory Children’s choir was featured on Dead Man’s Bones’ (actors Ryan Gosling and Zach Sheilds) debut album, which was also mastered by Pete Lyman at Infrasonic Sound.

Infrasonic Sound, which was profiled in Mix magazine’s March 2009 issue, is perhaps best known for sessions with No Age on the critically acclaimed releases Nouns and Weirdo Rippers and the recent EP Losing Feeling, as well as a number of sessions with The Mars Volta and a direct-to-disc recording with Beck. Infrasonic Sound decided to host a raffle in celebration of its five-year anniversary this month. Although plans to party are in place, the studio felt it was fitting to donate its time and resources to the Silverlake Conservatory in celebration of its five-year mark, particularly around the holidays.
