Jerry Gepner, CTO of Vitec Group Broadcast
The Vitec Group announced the appointment of Jerry Gepner to the position of CTO, Vitec Group Broadcast. Gepner will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of corporate development initiatives, from working with group companies such as Bexel to developing solutions that allow broadcasters to embrace the latest technologies without taking the risks normally associated with early stage hardware.
Gepner will also guide Vitec’s internal product development on complex systems such as intercoms and robotic camera supports.
Prior to joining Vitec, Gepner served as president of National Mobile Television (NMT). In this role, he helped launch Venue Services Group, an NMT owned systems design and integration company. Before NMT, he served as an Executive Vice President for Fox Sports and was co-founder and COO of Sportvision, the technology company that created the ‘virtual first down line’ and other well-known computer enhancements for live sports telecasts.
Gepner has been the recipient of five Emmy Awards, the 1998 Digiglobe Award from Deutsche Telekom, the 2003 Broadcasting All-Star Award and eight patents in the fields of television production and virtual imaging. As part of the transition, Gepner will continue to serve as a consultant to NMT on key projects. He will join The Vitec Group in mid-July and will be based in the New York area.
