M-Audio is now shipping its Studiophile DX4 (MSRP: $199.95) amplified, dual-driver monitors. The DX4s offer 18 watts of high-quality audio reproduction per channel, and features 4-inch low-frequency drivers and 1-inch mylar tweeters with OptImage waveguide technology. The DX4s’ fully shielded design facilitates a variety of placement options, including any desktop setup.
The back panel feature RCA and 1/4-inch inputs and a mid-cut switch. The front panel hosts a rotary volume control and a 1/8-inch headphone jack. The speakers are automatically muted when headphones are inserted.
“Our self-powered Studiophile line represents the reference monitors of choice for many music professionals around the world,” commented M-Audio marketing director, Adam Castillo. “The DX4s now deliver those same standards in a compact footprint that is small enough for the desktop or even portable use. The sound is so impressive for the size that we’ve actually had listeners trace the wires to prove to themselves that there’s no subwoofer attached.”
