The newly opened high-definition editing suite at Mark Forman Productions (New York City) features a Blue Sky ProDesk 5.1 monitoring system. The suite, which opened earlier this year, is part of a high-def complex tha includes an advanced screening room with picture and sound fed from the HD edit suite. Initial projects done there using the Blue Sky 5.1 monitors include an in-store video project for Kmart and several documentary films.
“Space is very tight in New York in general, and that’s the case here, as well,” comments Mark Forman, owner of Mark Forman Productions. “That’s why I chose the Blue Sky speakers—no other kind of speaker could give me great sound and accurate imaging in these kind of dimensions.”
According to Forman, the hardest positions to fill are the rear surrounds and the center-channel speaker, with the Blue Sky monitors handling this position with customized, Forman-designed speaker stands. “The center speaker hangs over the 30-inch Apple video monitor in a very unique design,” he says. “The surround speakers are up against the wall, the most difficult configuration in which to achieve accurate imaging. But in both cases, the Blue Sky speakers are the perfect solution, sounding great and providing accurate imaging regardless of how they’re positioned and configured in relation to the screen and the room itself.”
