MCC Launches Fiber Optic Snake on a Reel

The Fiber Optic Snake on a Reel conforms to new European environmental directives (RoHS) in addition to environmental codes en masse in the U.S.

The Fiber Optic Snake on a Reel consists of a reel assembly with an 18-inch flange diameter, 11-inch drum diameter with a traverse length of 12 inches. The frame dimensions are 25 inches high by 16 inches wide with a bottom length of 25 inches and a top length of 20 inches. The reel plate will accommodate from 1 to 18 duplex or 1 to 36 simplex user-specified couplers. Four locking casters are integrated into the frame for easy transport and the unit, without snake, weights in at 62 lbs.

The clear PVC tubing with braided reinforcement operates in a temperature range from –10 degrees to +130 degrees Fahrenheit an is crush tested to 3000 lbs, making it ideal for high traffic temporary installations like a football game or the like. The standard lengths available run between 100 and 300 feet with a weight of 10.3 lbs per 100 feet.

The fiber optic cable options include 62.5/125, 50/125, Laser Optimized 50/125, Singlemode with a strand count of 2 to 36 fibers. FC, LC, MTRJ, SC and ST connectors are available for both multimode and singlemode, while FCA, FCU, LCU, LCA, SCA, SCU, STU and MTRJU are also available for singlemode. Fiber optic jumpers are available in both singlemode and multimode with the above connectors. All standard polish connectors are tested in accordance to FOTP-171 and Ultra and Angle polish are tested in compliance to GR326-Core.
