The L.A. Studios Inc., an audio post-production company, announced that chief mixer Jimmy Hite from Margarita Mix de Santa Monica (Santa Monica, Calif.) has been nominated for the “Spotted Excellence Award” by The Association of Music Producers (AMP). Hite was recognized for his mix on Fallon/Minneapolis’ “Interview” spot for United Airlines, which is available for viewing on the AMP Website at http://www.ampnow.com.

The “Spotted Excellence Award” recognizes the mixer responsible for the best TV commercial audio that year. The winner will be announced at the fourth annual AMP Awards for Excellence in TV Commercial Mixing, June 6, 2005 in Beverly Hills at the Mosaic Hotel. In 2002, Hite received AMP’s “Mixer of the Year” award.

Hite’s background includes work on numerous advertising spots for Budweiser, Sony Playstation 2, DirecTV, Ford, Epson, Nissan, Energizer and Chevrolet. In 2002, he received the “Best Audio Engineer” award at the 23rd annual Telly Awards for “Cat Herders,” a Super Bowl spot.

“Jimmy has an unparalleled record in the commercial business as one of the industry’s top mixers and we are thrilled that he has been nominated for the ‘Spotted Excellence Award,'” said Jesse Meli, president/CEO of The L.A. Studios Inc. “This is a great acknowledgment of the skill and artistry that Jimmy brings to all his work to make our client’s commercials really stand out”

“A lot of expertise goes into making a great television commercial, and the sound mix is the critical last step,” said AMP president Jan Horowitz of DHMA, a music and sound design company. “Pulling all of the audio elements–the music, dialog, voice-over and sound effects–into perfect balance supports both the visual image and the advertiser’s message. That’s what the very best post-production mixers do, and we think they deserve recognition.”
