mSoft Servers Installed in NYC, Atlanta Facilities

Officials at mSoft report that both the Los Angeles and New York offices of advertising firm Saatchi & Saatchi are now using mSoft servers for their production facilities to manage their music and SFX audio. The Los Angeles facility will be using mSoft’s new Vision Clip software to managing their video media content as well.

With the addition of the VisionClip management module, combined with the audio management of MusicCue for music and ServerSound for SFX; Saatchi & Saatchi LA can operate under a “library of congress” style media management system where any type of media can be found.

Both facilities’ systems utilize the new “prior use” feature mSoft has added, which reports use of media elements in any past projects. This is important to ad agencies that need to restrict usage of elements used for competing products. Their systems will also create music cue sheets that are accurate to the fraction of a second by “reading” EDL files from their Avid workstations.

The mSoft server systems arrived at each facility custom-configured with the audio files and metadata for all of the existing music and SFX libraries that were previously used via CDs at each facility; audio updates are sent once a month on external USB2 drive(s) and copied into the systems. In addition to 1TB of RAID storage for its audio libraries, the Los Angeles facility ordered an additional 1TB of fiber storage to load video clips, as well as mSoft’s ProMaster mastering tools for content creation.

The post-production studio R!OT Atlanta has also installed an mSoft server system for managing their collection of production music and sound effects libraries, as part of a space renovation and 7,000 square-foot expansion project.

VisionClip, ServerSound and MusicCue will be shown at the upcoming AES Convention, booth #249.
