MSoft Inc. unveiled a new music search technology developed for the past several years by the center for music technology research at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and exclusively licensed to mSoft. The mSoft MusicDirector is an enhancement already integrated into mSoft the MusicCue and is now available to all mSoft clients worldwide.

“Current technologies have multiple problems with metadata based search: spamming, metadata inaccuracies, non-existing standards for music description, language barriers preventing cross cultural music finds. Add to this the facts that there are simply too many tracks–10,000 new ones every month arrives at mSoft, and that no two humans can agree on describing a particular music track and you have the current picture.” Said Amnon Sarig, mSoft’s CEO.

“The embedded machine intelligence of the UPF engine in mSoft MusicDirector bypasses many of these problems. It uses a computer to derive an opinion database as if the computer listens to the music. You interrogate MusicDirector by starting with a sample track that you like – you then ask MusicDirector for tracks that ‘in its opinion’ are similar. No text metadata is used for the search. The results can then be auditioned and selected for re-query of the opinion database,” adds Sarig. “No other music search engine will have anything remotely as powerful, since mSoft acquired the exclusive licensing for this patent pending technology.”

MSoft server users will now be able to interrogate the mSoft MusicDirector for musical opinion based search directly from their work stations and deliver the music selected directly to the production environment with the same ease of use and world class service that made mSoft the de facto standard of post production music and sound delivery system, with more than 20 million music and sound tracks delivered on 400 terabytes of storage supplied by mSoft to worldwide clients.
