Musikmesse 2010: Mission for Music

“Mission for Music” is the theme of Musikmesse 2010, which takes place in Frankfurt, Germany, from March 24 to 27, 2010. As in past years, Musikmesse will be held in conjunction with the Pro Light + Sound convention, and admission to either show allows visitors access to both expos. And with a stronger dollar—currently hovering around $1.35/Euro—the favorable exchange rate makes attending this European convention more affordable.

With more than 1,500 exhibitors from 47 countries in 12 halls within the Frankfurt Messe (“messe” is German word for “fair”) complex, the combined event is the world’s leading trade fair for music, pro audio, lighting and DJ technologies. Also not to be missed is an extensive program of workshops, concerts, demonstrations and discussion events. New for 2010 is the Vintage Show, a special exhibition and exchange for rare and special instruments—a journey through the history of musical instruments.

Another highlight will be the 11th annual MIPA (Musikmesse International Press Awards, spotlighting the top audio and music products selected by the editors of more than 100 magazines. The ceremony takes place in the “Saal Europa,” room in Hall 4.0 on Thursday March 25, at 6:30 p.m.

Admission to Musikmesse/Pro Light + Sound is restricted to the professional trade from March 24 to 26, with the general public admitted on March 27 only. Tickets are available on-site, but for those seeking to avoid the box office lines at the fair, advance tickets at a discounted price can be purchased online from Messe Frankfurt’s Online Ticketing page.
