Neutrik Introduces 4-Pole Y-Split OpticalCon at AES 2006

Neutrik expanded its OpticalCon system by introducing the 4-pole Y-Split OpticalCon at AES 2006. With the Y-Split, Neutrik offers an assembled Y-split cable comprised of four multimode fibers within two OpticalCon connectors on each end of the cable.

Designed for high bandwidth audio and video or additional control signal transmission, Neutrik’s Y-Split OpticalCon is offered as a solution when a two-fiber system is insufficient. Accommodating a standard optical LC-Duplex connector in a rugged and durable all-metal housing, the Y-Split is said to have superior cable retention, features a push-pull locking mechanism and protects against dirt and dust via an automatically operated sealing cover.

The Y-Split is based on a standard optical LC-Duplex connection, although it was designed for improved safety and ruggedness. The Y-Split can be used with an LC Connector in permanent connections, or with Neutrik’s OpticalCon cable connector for mobile applications.
