NHT Pro announced that two new subwoofers, the S-20 and S-80 Xd, will ship in January 2007. Both subwoofers were demonstrated at the 121st Audio Engineering Society (AES) Convention in San Francisco.
The new acoustic suspension S-80 Xd features two 12-inch woofers mounted back-to-back to eliminate unwanted vibrations and the need for cones or spikes. A 500-watt Class D amplifier features a single level control, leaving complex crossover functions to the outboard XdA amplifier processor.
The XdA contains the DEQX DSP processor, four amplifiers and a power supply. Inputs/outputs include single-ended (RCA) and balanced (XLR) inputs, four powered outputs (for powering either a single M-80Xd or a pair of M-60Xd monitors), plus two line and balanced outputs for adding subwoofers. The XdA also includes a USB 2 port and a microphone input. The XdA has a rear panel switch for either stereo or mono bass output, and four individual channel controls that provide filter variants dependent on the model used and application desired.
The S-20 is NHT-Pro’s replacement for both the S-00 and B-20 subwoofers. Its bass reflex design comprises an aluminum cone 10-inch woofer and 200W Class D amplifier for near- or mid-field environments. The S-20 features a footswitch bypass and internal high- and low-pass filters, while allowing traditional single box LFE integration and additional output.
