Platinum Samples has released its first expansion pack featuring multi-Platinum award winning recording engineers for FXpansion’s BFD acoustic drum module software. Andy Johns, the first engineer featured in this series, re-created his legendary rock drum sounds for the Andy Johns Classic Drums BFD Expansion Pack that will be available in September 2006. The library was recorded in one of the greatest rock studios in Los Angeles using an all Class-A Neve 80 Series console and Studer analog tape machine electronics with velocity layers exceeding 128 levels.
Johns’ classic rock credits include The Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main Street and Goat’s Head Soup, Led Zeppelin’s II, III, IV and Physical Graffiti, Van Halen’s For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and Godsmack’s Number One Billboard album, IV.
Platinum Samples is said to be the first third-party company to release an expansion pack for FXpansion’s BFD software under license. The expansion pack is compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows and requires BFD software. BFD supports Digidesign’s RTAS format, as well as VSTi, DirectX, Audio Units and Propellerhead ReWire, and can also run as a stand-alone application.
