Prism Sound, SADiE Offering Seminars in U.S.

SADiE seminar at Bournemouth University in the UK

Prism Sound’s “From Mic To Monitor” and SADiE’s mastering seminars debuted in the U.S. this week, with the first events taking place at the Art Institute of Seattle on October 14 and 15.

The seminars, which are free to attend, provide an insight into the latest recording and mastering techniques and aim to dispel some of the more popular myths that have filtered through the industry in recent years. Each seminar will feature a number of short presentations and a talk by a guest professional, who will also be available to answer questions from the audience. The first night in each venue will be devoted to recording and the second to mastering.

“The aim of this tour is to stimulate discussion and debate amongst industry professionals as well as those new to the field of recording,” says Prism Sound Sales and Marketing Manager, Jody Thorne. “We hope that people will walk away from these events enlightened and enthused, so that the techniques and information they have learnt can be implemented in the future.”

The tour will visit seven more venues:

October 19/20 Ex’Pression College for Digital Arts (Emeryville, Calif.)
October 21/22 Art Institute of California (Santa Monica, Calif.)
October 26/27 University of Texas Arlington
October 28/29 Emmerson College (Boston)
November 2/3 New York University
November 4/5 Belmont University (Nashville)
November 7/8 University of Miami, Florida

Guest speakers lined up for the tour will vary from venue to venue and event to event, but will include producers and engineers such as Neil Dorfsman, Frank Filipetti, Chuck Ainlay, Ed Cherney, Warren Latimer and Tom Lord-Alge.
