Pro Audio Veteran Buzz Goodwin Passes Away at Age 62

As reported by Kelleigh Welch for Pro Sound News: Pro audio veteran Earl “Buzz” Goodwin Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. He was 62.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Goodwin; his parents, Earl and Dorothy Jean; his brothers, Kenneth and Paul; his sister Cindy; and his son, Jesse.

Goodwin was well-known in the pro audio industry, working for a number of manufacturers including Audio-Technica, where he served as VP of Sales from 1989 to 1998 before joining Harman Professional, working as Vice President of Sales and later Executive VP for brands including Lexicon, dbx, BSS Audio, DiGiTech and JBL. In 2008, Goodwin resigned from his position with JBL and spent two years as President at FDW Corp before switching to consulting for sales and marketing executives for MI/Audio manufacturers.

Always a music lover, Goodwin was also a talented guitarist and songwriter, and played in several bands, including the country/pop band Silverado.

In a statement on her Facebook page, Goodwin’s wife, Suzanne, wrote, “Buzz will be missed by his family, spiritual brothers and sisters, friends and all who knew him, and especially by his wife, Suzy, whom he cherished.”

A Memorial Service for Goodwin is being held today, Friday, March 29, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 542 N. Pleasant View Road, Middleton, Wis., 53562.
