QVC to Implement Quintiq’s Multi-Resource Scheduling Solution

Quintiq announces that QVC Inc., one of the largest multimedia retailers in the world, has selected its Multi-Resource Scheduling (MRS) solution to integrate the network’s scheduling and planning needs into one single system.

The MRS system will help QVC organize and track its broadcasting resources, with the goal of reducing the amount of time spent on scheduling, as well as to provide full transparency and real-time planning. The system will integrate schedule changes into the existing, real workflow.

“Our broadcast operations demand flexibility in scheduling to accommodate last minute and short-term changes. Quintiq’s MRS solution offers an abundance of management information, deployment analyses, and availability and planning trends, which results in greater control and efficiency,” says Monica Justice, vice president of media logistics and production at QVC.

With Quintiq’s MRS solution, all QVC schedulers will have access to the same real-time data regarding studios, equipment, available personnel, vehicles and current shoots. All resource availability information is accessible in one centralized location, which greatly simplifies the scheduling process. With a clear overview of resources, double booking and over booking can be eliminated. MRS features tools that oversee rotating shifts, warn of any potential conflicts and automatically match staff with task requirements.

“We are proud that QVC—a recognized leader in broadcasting and retailing—has selected us to facilitate greater efficiency and to assist them in gaining increased cost reductions and workforce and resource integration,” says Joachim Arts, Quintiq’s North American vice president of business development.

Launched in the U.S. at the 2008 NAB Conference, Quintiq’s MRS is said to be the first fully customizable planning and scheduling solution for broadcasters.
