After technology cable networks G4 and Tech TV merged earlier this year, they have worked from a new media production and editing facility in Los Angeles, and recently purchased 16 sets of Blue Sky ProDesk 2.1 monitoring systems. Fourteen of the ProDesk 2.1 systems have been installed in the facility’s Avid Adrenaline and Symphony suites, and the Blue Sky monitors also equip two of the facility’s three Digidesign Pro Tools mixing studios. The ProDesk systems were sold to G4techTV by Keycode Media of Studio City, CA.
Since their installation earlier this year, the Blue Sky ProDesk systems have been employed assuring the quality of broadcast audio for G4techTV productions such as Pulse, the network’s news program that delivers information on the video game industry, and the techno-biography show Icons. Cliff Coburn, director of post production for G4techTV, says the decision to purchase a substantial number of ProDesk 2.1 systems was based on recommendations from their vendor and on the suggestion of G4techTV audio mixers Brian Golub and Brian Stroner. “We love them here,” remarks Coburn. “The mixers like the flat response and accuracy of the ProDesk speakers, and they’ve come to depend on them for accuracy. They’re the right monitoring system for a high-tech company like ours.”
