Remix Hotel: They Don’t Check In, But There’s Lots to Check Out

No one actually checked in, but the Remix Hotel New York City 2004 was a colorful event for music technology aficionados to check out.

The Hank Shocklee Experience panel wasn’t sleepy at Remix Hotel NYC.

No one actually checked in, but the Remix Hotel New York City 2004 was a colorful event for music technology aficionados to check out. Held in SAE’s spacious new Herald Square digs, the three-day happening drew a large crowd looking to expand their horizons with hands-on technology demonstrations and panels.

Manufacturers such as M-Audio, Cakewalk, Korg, Emagic, Steinberg and more were on hand for interaction with their latest developments. Meanwhile, standing-room only panels like the Hank Shocklee Experience proved to be packed with much more fire and attitude than the standard industry think tanks, thanks to an energetic group of hip hop sages including Abnormal, DJ Static, Sony’s James Cruz, Kyle Jason, Lee Stone, Phase 1 & D2, DJ Kiva and the outspoken Shocklee himself.

The next Remix Hotel will be held in San Francisco during the 117th AES Convention, October 28 – 31. Visit www.remixmag.com for info.
