RipTide Music Licenses Soundtrack of Sony Videogame ‘Lair’

RipTide Music in Los Angeles announced its exclusive worldwide representation of the soundtrack from the PlayStation 3 videogame Lair. The announcement was made jointly by RipTide Music president Rich Goldman and Chuck Doud, director of music for Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA).

The soundtrack is by Academy Award–nominated composer John Debney, who earned a 2005 nomination for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score, for his contribution to The Passion of the Christ. RipTide Music will now seek new licensing deals for the Lair soundtrack from within the film, TV and advertising arenas. The Lair soundtrack has been recognized throughout the videogame industry, and has secured multiple awards and award nominations.

Regarding the deal, Doud says, “Riptide Music is uniquely positioned to deliver our music to television, movie trailers and advertising in a way that will separate it from the pack. The videogame industry is producing some of the best, unique and most exciting music out there, and is a perfect companion to compliment other media.”

Goldman adds, “We have long felt that there is a vibrant and hugely untapped market in many other areas of the entertainment and advertising industries for the powerful and exhilarating original music that is composed specifically for videogames. We are really excited that SCEA has given us the opportunity to seek new media outlets for the great Lair soundtrack.”
