SAE Institute to Host Mic Pre Demo Event

The SAE Institute has announced two new events taking place at its Nashville campus located on Music Row, open to students and industry professionals. A special mic pre presentation will focus on the evolving world of microphone preamps, while a large format console open mixdown session will feature demonstrations of mixing procedures and techniques used by some of Nashville's finest engineers.

A special mic pre presentation will focus on the evolving world of microphone preamps, while a large format console open mixdown session will feature demonstrations of mixing procedures and techniques used by some of Nashville’s finest engineers.

An Evening of Mic Pres

On Tuesday, Aug. 16 the SAE Institute Nashville campus and AXI Pro Audio Distribution will host a comparative demonstration of several new state-of-the-art mic preamps from manufacturers including Audient, ResoAudiotronics, Thermionic Culture and L.A. Audio. Special guests Gene Eichelberger (James Gang, Neil Young, Johnny Cash) and Chas Sanford (Chicago, Dan Hill, Bette Midler) will be on-hand to put the gear through its paces, while offering their personal insights, as well as an inside look at their own personal tips and tricks for getting the perfect sound. The event will take place from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the SAE Nashville campus studios.

Advanced Neve SSL Mixdown Workshop

On Aug. 26 and 27, SAE Institute’s Nashville Campus will host a special mixdown session for students featuring Nashville engineers Bob Bullock and Jake Nicely, who will be demonstrating mix techniques heard on albums from The Tubes, Asleep At The Wheel, George Strait, Kenney Chesney, Bela Fleck and a host of other top recording artists. Students will get an intimate look at mixdown techniques of the professionals in the familiar settings of SAE’s Neve and SSL equipped control rooms, and will have the chance to analyze and discuss the sessions in real-time while learning from two more of Nashville‚s top engineers. SAE Institute‚s Nashville campus is located at 7 Music Circle North on historic Music Row.
