Solid State Logic Announces Duende for PC and Intel Mac

At the 2007 Winter NAMM show, Solid State Logic announced the release of Duende Version 1.5, which is now available for PC and Intel processor-based Mac users. Duende is a 19-inch rackmount unit that incorporates the DSP technology in SSL’s C Series digital consoles to integrate console-grade SSL Channel EQ and Dynamics processing with a digital audio workstation. Duende connects to a DAW via FireWire, and its onboard DSP runs the SSL processing tool kit, relieving the burden on the host computer’s CPU.

Duende allows for up to 32 channels of processing at sample rates up to 96 kHz. The EQ and Dynamics Channel provides a single plug-in slot EQ and dynamics processing solution with the power and processing flexibility of an SSL console channel.

Key features include 4-band EQ (two shelving sections and two parametric); a variable lowpass and highpass filter; switchable EQ characteristics between E Series and G Series EQ; “Over-Easy” soft-ratio compression characteristic for smooth transitions; variable process order routing; and dynamics sidechain processing with independent sidechains for compressor and expander/gate. The Duende Bus Compressor is modeled on the classic SSL Master Bus Compressor.
