Solid State Logic expanded on its XLogic range of analog rackmount processors by unveiling the XLogic Alpha Channel ($1,895) at the recent 121st AES Convention. The Alpha Channel is an analog channel strip designed to be the front end of a digital audio workstation.
It offers a studio-class mic preamp with line-level and hi-Z instrument input switches, as well as a Variable Harmonic Drive circuit. It features a highpass filter with selectable cut-off frequencies of 40, 80 or 120Hz. It also has a built-in A/D converter, a 3-band SSL parametric EQ with mid-frequency Q control and dual LF curves, and intelligent auto limiting for maximizing recording headroom while avoiding DAC clipping.
