Student Events Set for 126th AES Convention in Munich, Germany

The MOC Center in Munich, Germany

Misato Yamada, the 126th AES Convention Education Committee European/International Region Chair and North and Latin America Chair Teri Grossheim have issued an invitation to all AES student members to take advantage of the outstanding events scheduled at the MOC Convention Center in Munich, Germany, May 7-10, 2009.

Events include a Student Recording Competition, which features a distinguished panel of judges critiquing finalists in an interactive presentation and discussion. Student members can submit stereo and surround recordings in classical, jazz, folk/world music, and/or pop/rock categories. Students can submit their entries and find rules online at www.aes-sda.org. The deadline for entries is April 14, 2009.

A Student Science Spot will be hosted by the Graz Student Sections, and provides an opportunity for students to present non-commercial scientific works in an accessible way by offering prototypes or demonstrations. The event also provides an information platform and service point for students during the convention. For information on the Student Science Spot, visit www.aes-sda.org.

In an Education Forum Panel, educators and instructors will discuss the changing landscape of professional audio technology and industry and the effects of these changes on course and curriculum design.

Plus, this AES is offering an Education Fair in which institutions offering studies in audio (from short courses to graduate degrees) will be represented in a “table top” session. Information on each school’s respective programs will be made available through displays and academic guidance. Admission is free and open to all convention attendees. To register for the event, go to the online AES Education Fair sign-up form.
