Shine Ltd., creator of programs for both the UK and U.S. television broadcasting markets, employed Studio Network Solutions (SNS) to assist in the delivery of virtually seamless programming.
After working closely with the Shine technology department, SNS determined that in order to improve workflow among its multiple editing suites, which feature Avid on Dell PCs, Shine needed to implement a solution that would work cross-platform and resolution. SNS supplied the media company with a globalSAN™ X-16— a 16-bay, six-user system with 4 Terabytes of high-performance SATA storage.
The globalSAN X-16 employs an iSCSI initiator to enable an IP-based SAN. The easy-to-use, yet powerful technology enables a high-speed, lower-cost storage solution that is capable of spanning nearly any IP network.
John Marsh, Shine Ltd.’s head of technology, reports, “Studio Network Solutions’ globalSAN X-16 met our Avid networking requirements. We’re able to interconnect all of our Avid workstations and have the suites accessing the same media concurrently with excellent performance. Before we purchased this system we explored all available storage options. What we’ve found is that globalSAN delivers on its promise of performance AND affordability for offline DV and online editing. The close relationship and customer service provided by SNS is second to none.”
