At the recent 2005 NAMM Convention, TerraTec Producer presented the new EWS MIC 2/ MIC 8 series, a digital audio interface solution, and the SINE MLM 62, a compact rack-mount stereo mixer.

At the recent 2005 NAMM Convention, TerraTec Producer presented the new EWS MIC 2/ MIC 8 series, a digital audio interface solution, and the SINE MLM 62, a compact rack-mount stereo mixer.

Designed for audio, video and interactive media applications, the EWS MIC2 / MIC8 series offers FireWire™, 24-bit/96kHz, ADAT, or 32-bit PCI card interfaces.
Developed in collaboration with SPL, the EWS MIC2 / MIC8 systems feature analog circuits married to digital signal processing.

The systems’ open, modular interfaces connect to external equipment via FireWire™, ADAT and 32-bit PHASE 88 PCI bus card. In addition to eight analog inputs and outputs, the 1 HU 19-inch chassis features digital ADAT and S/PDIF ports, two MIDI interfaces, and a WordClock/BNC port, as well as an adjustable headphones output on the front panel.

At the heart of the system is a microphone preamp stage powered by low-noise operational amplifiers. The EWS MIC8 sports eight of these amplifiers, while the EWS MIC2 offers two. All eight inputs on both devices can also accept line signals. The front panel offers two audio channels equipped with XLR/1/4″ inputs.

EWS MIC 2/8 systems ship with their own control software, offering comprehensive routing and signal conversion options. Analog, S/PDIF and even ADAT signals can be converted and routed flexibly via mouse click with virtually no restrictions imposed by hardware configurations. Advanced WDM, ASIO, and GSIF drivers ensure the software runs smoothly on all current operating systems for Windows computers.

Based on a very convenient concept, Apple Core-Audio/ MIDI drivers connect the FireWire™ system to the Macintosh OS X computer.

The MIC FireWire series will be available in February 2005, priced at $1090 (MIC2) and $1190 (MIC8) MSRP.

The SINE MLM 62 features two microphone preamplifiers, four line inputs and additional effect insert options. The SINE MLM 62’s balanced microphone inputs each sport two-band equalizers for tweaking bass and treble levels. The Gain controls are located on the device’s rear panel.

With two outputs, a Master Volume knob and a Volume and Balance knob each per stereo and microphone input, the SINE MLM 62 serves as a six-channel stereo mixer. Each input offers additional inserts for signal processors with a stereo effects return.

The unit offers a signal-to-noise ratio of > 97 dB, frequency range of 4 Hz to 20 kHz and excellent sound quality. The unit is available now and is priced at 149.00 Euros.
