THX announced at ShoWest that it has added 128 new screens to THX Certified Cinemas around the globe over the past year. The THX Certified Cinema program continues to experience growth in the emerging markets of Asia, South America and Europe, as well as the U.S. The list of new THX Certified Cinemas includes some of the world’s premier venues, such as Century Theatres’ Century Bella Terra in Huntington Beach, Calif. and the Kinepolis Nancy, France.
In a THX Certified Cinema, the auditorium environment has been designed to meet the rigid standards set by THX for presentation excellence. THX works closely with cinema owners and architects to ensure that speaker placement and positioning, and equipment and acoustic performance, can accurately deliver movie sound and visuals exactly as they were produced in the post-production studio.
