Tymphany Introduces Scan-Speak Tweeter

Tymphany Corporation has introduced a new addition to the company’s Scan-Speak line of audio transducers.

Tymphany Corporation has introduced a new addition to the company’s Scan-Speak line of audio transducers. The new Scan-Speak D3004/6600 is a one-inch, high-performance soft dome tweeter designed to meet the demands of professional studio monitors requiring wide dispersion at high frequencies and transparent midrange clarity. Tymphany will be featuring the new tweeter in booth #1127 at the upcoming AES Convention.

The new D3004/6600 builds on the experience of the one-inch R29 ring radiator, resulting in low resonance frequency, but further provides the extended dispersion characteristics of a ≤-inch dome. Tymphany’s AirCirc Magnet System—named for the way it optimizes air flow within the chamber—rearranges the traditional magnet structure from a single magnet to an open magnetic circuit comprised of six separate neodymium slugs. This, in combination with the chamber, results in the elimination of the reflections and resonances that compromise the performance of traditional motors. The D3004/6600 reportedly gives engineers improved control over critical midrange performance, for improved vocal rendition and imaging at all listening locations.

The new Scan-Speak D3004/6600 provides a usable frequency range of 1.8 KHz to 33 KHz. It is particularly suitable for applications that require very clean reproduction and wide dispersion, including studio monitors and home audiophile speakers.

The D3004/6600 will be available in the fourth quarter of 2005, through Tymphany’s sales team and worldwide distribution network. Pricing is available upon request.
