AATNY Chooses Martin Audio For Skylark Lounge

Set 30 stories above New York City’s Garment Center, The Skylark is an elegant cocktail lounge with expansive views of the Hudson River, Empire State Building and Midtown Manhattan.

Billed as an “all-season destination,” Skylark combines a high-style multi-level indoor space with an outdoor roof terrace and offers an extensive bar menu with small plates such as tapas.

Because dancing is also a priority at Skylark, Advanced Audio Technology of New York was brought in to install audio for the lounge.

AATNY’s Jason Ojeda explains that “there is no specifically designed dance floor, which is typical of many lounges. That required an evenly balanced audio system throughout the venue so that no matter where you are, there is complete coverage with no high or low frequency drop offs.”

Consequently, Ojeda and his team designed a system consisting of 14 Martin Audio AQ28’s in a stereo configuration deployed left and right down the lengths of the entire venue. The system also includes eight 2 x15 sub-bass enclosures, BSS signal processing, Tactical Audio amplification and a custom-made DJ booth by AATNY.

Asked about the reaction to the Martin Audio system, Ojeda says, “The client is thrilled with the sound quality. It’s extremely clear and defined with a lot of punch and presence.

“We’ve used Martin Audio AQ28s for many years in at least 15 to 20 venues and they’ve excelled in terms of robust build quality, client satisfaction and audio performance that’s second to none.”
