. 22 deadline for participating countries to submit their final 28-man World Baseball Classic rosters. Robert Griffin III JerseyLAKE LOUISE, Alta. Greg Jennings Womens Jersey . -- Lake Louise has been given the green light from skiings world governing body to hold the first World Cup downhill races of the season. A mens downhill and super-G race is scheduled for Nov. 26 and 27 respectively at the resort west of Calgary. The International Ski Federation (FIS) conducted a snow inspection Saturday and gave Louise the thumbs-up Monday. The mens first training run is scheduled for Nov. 23. "Theres very little snow in Europe but we are ahead of where weve been at this time for the past two or three years," race organizer John Cassels said in a statement. "The race track is 75 to 80 per cent built. Weve had 50 volunteers together with our net crew working on the hill since Saturday. They will continue through to Friday when another 150 volunteers will help us put the finishing touches on the track." The first World Cup slalom races of the season in Levi, Finland, were cancelled earlier this month due to poor snow conditions. Two womens downhills and a super-G at Lake Louise follow the mens event Dec. 2-4. A separate inspection is required for the women. Lake Louise hosted its first mens World Cup races in 1980 and womens races in 1989. The Canadian mens team has several contenders this year including reigning world downhill champion Erik Guay of Mont Tremblant, Que. Calgarys John Kucera (2006) and Jan Hudec (2007) and Vancouvers Manual Osborne-Paradis (2009) have also won races at Louise. Kucera intends to make the Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup his first race since breaking his left leg in the downhill there two years ago. Earl Thomas Jersey .  Calgary has lost three of its last four games, and enters todays test tied for third place in the division, two points back of first-place Colorado and Minnesota. Despite being that close to the division lead, the Flames sit tied for seventh overall in the West with 11 games to play. Jason Witten Youth Jersey . Abreu signed with the Dodgers on Friday, insisting he was OK with a reserve role after years as a regular with the Angels, Philadelphia and the New York Yankees. Earl Thomas Jersey . Jones signed a six-year, $85.5 million contract with the Orioles on Sunday, ensuring that the 26-year-old centre fielder will be with the team through 2018. Miles Austin Jersey . North Chinas Heilongjiang province took 100 percent of the electricity imported from Russia in 2009, and the economic value of the imported electricity was estimated around $29 million, according to the provincial capitals customs. Matthew Stafford Jersey . Rob Short had a short-handed goal and added two assists as the Vipers routed the Humboldt Broncos 7-1 in Mondays round-robin action at the RBC Cup. The game was billed as a possible championship preview between two teams that have combined for six national titles, but Vernon (2-0) scored the games first four goals and cruised to victory.Perhaps feeling some pressure as they sit 2.5-games behind the Yankees in the AL East, the Boston Red Sox swung a couple of moves just before the deadline, landing a top offensive catcher and a glove man at first. Numbers Game examines Bostons deals with Cleveland and Atlanta. The Red Sox Get: C/1B Victor Martinez and 1B Casey Kotchman. Martinez, 30, has been a premier offensive catcher for much of his career (excluding his miserable 2008 campaign) and is on track this season, ranking second among catchers with 15 home runs and leading all backstops with 67 RBI.  His .832 OPS ranks third among catchers and matches his career mark. In Boston, Martinez will take some of the catching duties away from veteran Jason Varitek and, while Martinez is a much better offensive player, hes a liability defensively, having thrown out only 15% of those attempting to steal against him. Martinez is also capable of playing first base, making 44 of his 95 starts their this season, which means he can spell the likes of Kevin Youkilis and Casey Kotchman, who figure to see most of the time there. The Red Sox will hold a team option on Martinez for 2010, at a reasonable cost of $7.5-million. Kotchman is a 26-year-old first baseman who is terrific defensively, but has yet to develop the kind of power expected from a corner infielder.  Kotchman makes good contact, walking more (32) than hes struck out (28) this year, yet his .764 OPS is below average for a starting first baseman while his six home runs and 41 RBI, in 298 at-bats, are obviously well below what a typical first baseman should provide. The left-handed hitting Kotchman wont have to play everyday in Boston, but he can play regularly, with Kevin Youkilis shifting to third at times, to spell Mike Lowell, and having both Martinez and Kotchman on hand will give the Red Sox more flexibility at the DH spot, where David Ortiz hasnt been producing nearly what was expected. Kotchman is making $2.885-million this season. The Indians Get: RHP Justin Masterson, LHP Nick Hagadone and Bryan Price. Masterson, 24, is a big (6-foot-6, 250 pounds) righthander with a sweeping delivery who has had some level of success both in spot starts and coming out of the Red Sox bullpen over the last couple of seasons with primarily a power repertoire of fastball, slider, with the very occasional change-up mixed in. Morgan Burnett Jersey. Given the troubles in the Cleveland rotation right about now, Masterson should have an opportunity to win a spot, either this season or for 2010.  Failing that, hes a quality arm to have in the bullpen. Hagadone is a 23-year-old southpaw who is still in Single-A ball with Greenville after missing most of 2008 due to Tommy John surgery.  While hes quite a ways from the majors, Hagadone has a 2.52 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 25 innings this season, so there is definitely some promise worth exploring. Price, 22, was a first-round pick in 2008 and opened the season in Greeville before earning a promotion to Advanced-A Salem, where hes run into some troubles, posting a 6.54 ERA in 11 starts.  Nevertheless, Price has whiffed 97 batters in 96 1/3 innings at his two stops this season, so he can miss bats, which might turn into major league potential in a couple of seasons.  The Tribe were well-prepared to deal Martinez, with Kelly Shoppach and prospects Lou Marson and Carlos Santana behind the plate. The Braves Get: 1B Adam LaRoche. LaRoche, 29, lasted all of six games in Boston, after coming in a trade from Pittsburgh, where he was slumping rather dramatically leading up to the deal.  Now, he returns to Atlanta, where he started his major league career, from 2004-2006. Overall, LaRoche has put up 13 homers, 43 RBI and a .248 batting average, with a .772 OPS, in 93 games this season.  Mediocre numbers, to be sure, but his power potential -- hes averaged 26 homers over the last three seasons -- makes him a more threatening presence in the Braves lineup than Kotchman. LaRoche, who makes $7.05-million this season, will be a free agent at the end of the year. In the grand scheme of things, the Red Sox are, naturally, much better at the end of the day, adding a proven productive bat at the cost of some decent, but not outstanding, prospects and the Braves become a little more imposing with the addition of LaRoche.  Cleveland, well, they continue to overhaul the franchise, in the hopes of competing a few years down the road, it seems.
