AES APEI Webinar to Explore How Design Houses Add Value to Audio Product Development

— Design house principals offer perspectives into audio development, design and engineering in a new webinar from the Audio Engineering Society’s Audio Product Education Institute —

New York, NY — The Audio Product Education Institute (APEI), an initiative of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), is pleased to announce a new webinar titled “Cross Functional Design Experience Adding Value to Audio Product Development.” In this new online event, taking place Wednesday, June 23 (12pm ET), supply chain and sourcing experts David Lindberg (DB Enterprises) and Mike Klasco (Menlo Scientific), welcome Phnam Bagley (Nonfiction Design) and David Waterman (Deep Blue Design) to discuss how design houses can be a critical option supporting brands in all critical stages.

The session with these two well-established design houses will allow further insight into cross functional design operations and will explore less-known approaches to solving product development challenges. The two companies are uniquely positioned to feel the pulse of the industry from their locations in two of the most vibrant hubs for the consumer electronics and technology sectors. One company is located right in the heart of Silicon Valley and the vibrant San Francisco technology community. The other is based in Hong Kong and directly positioned in the hub of Asian trade and manufacturing activity.

Nonfiction Design (https://www.nonfiction.design) is a full-service design studio with a passion for creating sophisticated products that have never been attempted before, and for improving the human experience through industrial design, user experience, brand and packaging. Deep Blue Design (www.deepbluedesign.net) offers expertise design services in Southeast Asia, delivering solutions that leverage the team’s extensive experience along with their easy access to, and communication with, suppliers and factories in Mainland China.

As discussed in previous sessions focusing on the role of design houses, these companies can be critical to ensure that a concept turns into a robust project, ready for production. But more frequently these days, both large companies and startups are looking for innovative ways to enter a product category, or even invent a completely new one. Both Nonfiction and Deep Blue design have facilitated such innovation, supporting development of completely new concepts in audio product design.

Conversations between the two APEI Supply Chain and Sourcing pillar chairs with Bagley and Waterman will be followed by a live Q&A opportunity allowing attendees to ask questions of the presenters.
