AKG by HARMAN Debuts New Line of Versatile, High-Performance Headphones at Winter NAMM 2016

ANAHEIM, California – AKG by HARMAN today unveiled a new line of high-performance headphones at Winter NAMM 2016. Designed to meet the stringent requirements of recording musicians, producers and engineers on a budget, the new K52, K72 and K92 models deliver legendary AKG sound quality, exceptional comfort and long-lasting yet lightweight construction.

The new headphones feature large 40mm drivers that offer high sensitivity for greater output, wide frequency response for detailed sound, and low impedance for compatibility with personal music players as well as professional gear. The closed-back design features an innovative acoustic chamber, which eliminates audio bleed and preserves privacy, keeping the sound in the ears of even the most mobile listener.

An ergonomic, self-adjusting headband and over-ear design provide comfort during marathon listening sessions. All three models weigh in at only 200 g (7 oz) thanks to innovative AKG product engineering–the open headband design reduces the overall weight of the product, offsetting the inclusion of large, high-quality drivers.

While the K52, K72 and K92 come at an affordable price point, there’s no sacrifice in durability or quality. All three undergo extreme product testing including multiple two-meter drop tests, 80,000 bend cycle test for cables and a rigorous driver stress test. The headphones’ earpads, often the first component to show signs of wear, are replaceable to maximize value and investment.

“It takes a high degree of innovation and engineering focus to deliver this level of performance at these accessible price points,” said Peter Chaikin, Recording Solutions, HARMAN Professional. “With the launch of the K52, K72 and K92 headphones, AKG has demonstrated its commitment and expertise in delivering value to music recording customers.”

With a frequency range of 18 Hz – 20 kHz, the K52 is ideal for listeners who demand detailed sound when rehearsing and tracking. The K72, meanwhile, features an extended frequency range of 16Hz – 20kHz. Additionally, the included screw-on 6.3mm (1/4”) plug conveniently adapts the same phones to professional gear and also personal music players. A longer 3-meter cable provides versatility in pro studio applications.

The K92 leverages the benefits of the K72 while extending the high-frequency performance to 22 kHz. It also adds a gold-plated screw-on adapter plug to reduce the opportunity for oxidation and ensure top performance over time. These enhancements make the K92 the premium model for professional recording and monitoring applications.
