AMERICAN IDOL FINALIST WOWS HOMETOWN CROWD WITH NEW SENNHEISER 2000 RF SERIES

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN – May 2009: “American Idol” Top 3 contestant Danny Gokey had the privilege of debuting the new Sennheiser 2000 Series handheld wireless vocal microphone on U.S. television during his homecoming concert in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It may be small consolation for Gokey, who did not make it to the finale, but on past evidence he has a successful recording career still ahead of him.

The 2000 Series mic, outfitted with an evolution series 935 capsule, was delivered by Sennheiser’s local area rep, Eric Reese, just in time for the late afternoon concert. “It looks great, it handles nicely. It’s just a great product,” enthuses Brian “BK” Koerner, audio operations manager for Clearwing Productions, the Milwaukee-based company that supplied full production for Gokey’s show. “Everything went well, and the mic sounded amazing.”

Koerner reports that nearly 26,000 fans attended the show, which was held at the Harley-Davidson Roadhouse Stage at Henry Maier Festival Park, home of Summerfest, on the shore of Lake Michigan. The live performance, which included a full band, was part of “Danny Gokey Day,” which took Milwaukee’s “Idol” finalist around his hometown on a daylong series of events that were filmed by FOX for a segment on the top three elimination episode that was broadcast on May 13th.

Koerner notes that the Clearwing Productions crew members at the event were very impressed with the features of the 2000 Series system, which includes a high level of frequency flexibility and multichannel capability, and provides professional control via Sennheiser’s Wireless Systems Manager software. “They were really impressed and said it was outstanding. The internal antenna distribution system, the Ethernet connection for a PC – there’s everything on this unit that we just love,” he says. “Now they’re pulling my coattails to go and buy a bunch of it. It gives me an opportunity to spend more money!”
