Recent Installation Marks Successful Return to Analogue Signal Flow
HÜRTH, GERMANY – Earnapping Musicproduction, creative home to award-winning German superstar, Michael Wendler, recently upgraded its Royal Suite studio with a Solid State Logic AWS 900+ SE console and XLogic X-Rack with eight dynamics modules. This marks the studio’s return to analogue electronics, having ridden the all digital wave to its functional end. “We are in the business of creating tracks that have strong commercial appeal,� states Niesig. “With the advent of the AWS 900+ SE, the tracks simply sound different. The audio quality is much more precise and gives me much more punch. When I start to work with the EQ, the sound is amazing. The AWS actually changes how I approach recording instruments, voices and sounds. I can get what I want to achieve very quickly. I like capturing and editing on our Cubase 5 DAW. It is very good for that job. With the AWS, the great sound is there right from the first pass and this saves me a lot of time and effort.�
Niesig also uses the AWS 900+ SE for post production projects for Wendler and, again, the flexibility of the AWS shines.
“Being able to control the Steinberg Cubase 5 software from the console surface is very powerful,� Niesig explains. “I took a look at different controllers, but a controller is really just a bigger mouse. The AWS gives me the flexibility to work in music and sound effects posting for DVDs. The DAW control capability from the console allows me to focus more on creative engineering, where I can stay focused on a project.
