Ashly Amps and Processors the Choice of Sundial St. Pete, an Open Air Shopping Center – and it’s Culinary Anchor, Sea Salt

ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA – JUNE 2015: Sundial St. Pete is an exciting re-launch of an open-air shopping center in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, and Sea Salt may well be defined as its culinary anchor. Both are owned by Tampa businessman Bill Edwards and both are decidedly upscale. Local A/V integration firm Magnum Audio Group designed and installed high-performance sound systems for both venues, relying on Ashly Audio’s integrated NE Series and nX Series network amps for dependable – and also decidedly upscale – sound.

“The promenade is beautifully landscaped,” said Randi Crooks, owner of Magnum Audio Group. “Its stunning sculptures and video wall make it a destination in its own right.” In addition to its visual features, the designers wanted music to play an important role in Sundial St. Pete’s promenade. Crooks installed high-definition SoundTube XT850’s in the promenade, CM500i’s around umbrellas, and IW31-EZ’s in the first- and second-floor walkways. They’re driven by a powerful Ashly nXp 3.04 four-channel, 3000W per channel network amplifier with a built-in Protea™ DSP. The music source for the system is Pandora. In addition, an Ashly MX-508 eight-channel rack mixer feeds an Ashly KLR-4000 two-channel amplifier in support of live events and music playback on the promenade’s huge video wall powered by Community WX-1564 speakers.

The sound system in Sea Salt also takes its input from Pandora, with an additional microphone input for special events or pages. A single, two-rack space Ashly ne8250.70pe provides Sea Salt with Ashly Protea DSP and eight channels of 70V amplification at 250W each. SoundTube recessed ceiling, pendant, and surface-mounted loudspeakers provide the final output. An Ashly WR-5 programmable remote wall control allows separate volume control in each of the restaurant’s six zones.

“I went with Ashly because their products work well and, beyond that, because Ashly’s technical support is second to none,” said Crooks. “I’m very loyal, and I’ve come to count on the people in Ashly’s tech department. They’re wonderful to work with. Whenever I need help, it’s there.” He concluded, “I’m very pleased with the way Sundial St. Pete and Sea Salt turned out. I’m not easy to please – perhaps especially when it’s my own work – but these sound systems are awesome. Just to walk down the promenade and hear full-frequency, dynamic music coming out of the bushes… it’s so cool!”
