AURALEX’S HOVERDECK RISES TO OCCASION WITH ACCURATE ON-STAGE SOUND AT CHICAGO DRUM SHOW

ST. CHARLES, IL — The Auralex Acoustics® HoverDeck™, a drum isolator, will be employed on stage at the 19th Annual Chicago Drum Show, the world’s largest and longest-running vintage/custom drum event of its kind. The exhibit and performance event is being held at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles, Illinois on May 16 and 17, 2009.

Auralex Acoustics, the industry leader in innovative sound control solutions, contributed to this year’s event by providing its HoverDeck for the show’s clinic stage. The HoverDeck is a specifically engineered drum isolator that reduces coloration from floor resonance by decoupling the drum kit from the structure, resulting in a tighter, purer sound.

“My first use of Auralex’s HoverDeck was at a backline gig at a major casino, says Rob Cook of Rebeats, a company specializing in vintage and custom drum-related resources and coordinator and producer of the Chicago Drum Show. “During set-up my drum tech noticed the difference immediately, as the sonic improvement was dramatic. I look forward to using the HoverDeck again on the Chicago Drum Show’s clinic stage. The clinicians will be offering solo performances to small audiences of critical listeners; I am confident that the HoverDeck will be noticed.

The Chicago Drum Show couples exhibits with world-class performance clinics. Several noted drum clinicians are on board this year, including MC Gregg Potter, the legendary Danny Seraphine, solo marimba artist Jane Boxall, artist/author Zoro, Donny Osborne (Mel Torme), Bermuda Schwartz (“Weird Al Yankovic), Will Calhoun (Living Colour) and W.S. Fluke Holland (Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash), each of whom will perform on the clinic stage using Auralex’s HoverDeck for added isolation.

As part of Auralex’s Iso Series™ of Instant Sound Optimizers, the HoverDeck is specifically engineered to reduce coloration from floor resonance by decoupling the drum kit from the floor or stage for both studio and FOH use. The engineering technology for the HoverDeck is based on Auralex’s patented and best-selling GRAMMA™, Great GRAMMA™ and MoPad™ isolation products. Stages and traditional drum risers sympathetically vibrate (resonate) with the drums and/or PA system. These resonances feed back to the drums and are then picked up by the mics. HoverDeck’s rugged, laminated core and web-like ISO-Puck modular risers minimize structure-borne sound transmission and sympathetic vibrations between drums and hardware. Drums will exhibit a rumble-free purity of tone that’s simply unattainable without the HoverDeck.

The HoverDeck is available in two models: the HD-64Gig, designed for typical four- and five-piece drum kits, and the HD-88Concert, configured for larger drum kits and touring applications. Both configurations utilize a set of low-profile isolating boards that assemble quickly via strategically placed hook and loop fasteners. Both models are offered with an optional rugged road case.
