AURALEX’S NEW SUSTAIN BAMBOO SOUND DIFFUSOR SERIES DEBUTS AT STUDIO CENTER MIAMI

First Facility to Adopt New Bamboo-Based Acoustical Products

MIAMI, FL, NOVEMBER 4, 2010 – Auralex Acoustics, Inc. (AES 2010 Booth 729), the industry leader in innovative sound control solutions, announces that Studio Center Miami recently installed the company’s Sustain Bamboo Sound Diffusor Series, the first line of acoustical products made from 100% eco-friendly bamboo.

A state-of-the-art recording studio with the capacity to handle both audio and video productions, Studio Center Miami’s B Room consists of a control room and vocal room. The space was experiencing major reflection problems because of its square shape and limited size. The studio called on Gavin Haverstick, owner of Haverstick Designs, to measure, design and install acoustical treatments. Haverstick Designs proposed Auralex’s line of Sustain Diffusor Series to tame these reflections while also offering a “green solution with a soft aesthetic look.

“After conducting acoustical measurements of the B Room at Studio Center Miami, I knew that I needed to specify several diffusors to be installed on the rear wall and side walls in order to reduce the harsh reflections while retaining a nice ambience in the room, says Haverstick. “Auralex’s new Sustain Bamboo Sound Diffusor Series was the perfect choice for this install as its acoustical properties solved the anomalies in the room while its bamboo diffusors fit with the décor that the studio was looking for.

“Not only did Auralex’s Sustain Bamboo Sound Diffusor Series solve all of our acoustic problems, but it looks stunning, says Gary Vandy, head engineer at Studio Center Miami. “Our clients love the soft look of bamboo and it has become our most used room. We are now planning on incorporating these diffusors into the redesign of our large SSL control room this year.

The B Room at Studio Center Miami is perfect for the in-the-box mixer and is fully equipped to record, utilizing the very latest microphone preamps available. The control room offers a variety of monitoring solutions, as talent can be viewed on a monitor while also having a direct view into the control room from the vocal room.
The B Vocal Room provides a warm, quiet sound essential for vocal recording and over dubbing as well as ideal for posting, dialog replacement and live instruments. The booth features a monitor instead of a traditional vocal booth glass window.

Auralex’s Sustain Diffusor Series includes the WaveLens, WavePrism, QuadraTec, Peak Pyramid Diffusor and KeyPacs. This new line retains the longevity and acoustical qualities Auralex is known for with green and acoustical properties of natural bamboo.

“Our Sustain Bamboo Sound Diffusor Series is a complete offering, whereas the products can be used individually or in conjunction with each other to maximize the audio quality of any space, says Eric Smith, founder and president of Auralex Acoustics. “By utilizing several products within this new series, Studio Center Miami was able to acoustically treat its space for optimal audio quality, while also giving the room a great natural look.
