ShowMatch DeltaQ loudspeaker systems have seen increasing use at large-scale events throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and more

Framingham, MA – The word is spreading among the A/V systems rental community worldwide – Bose ShowMatch DeltaQ line array loudspeaker systems are an ideal sound reinforcement choice for large-scale festivals and entertainment events of all types, and a smart investment for rental and production companies. Early and mid-2019 saw increasing use of the ShowMatch system for festivals in the U.S., Latin America, Europe, South Asia and beyond. Highlights include the FIS Cross Country Skiing World Cup in Ulricehamn, Sweden (with rental firm AV1); the final performance of Italian band Le Luci Della Centrale Elettrica, in Milan (with rental firm Sonique Live); the “naming ceremony” of Barack Obama Blvd. in Los Angeles (with rental firm Hollywood Sound Systems); and multiple events respectively by new ShowMatch system owners Audio Factory Pvt. Ltd. of New Delhi, India, and Castelein Audiovisual Services of Mexico City.

FIS Cross Country Skiing World Cup, Ulricehamn, Sweden (rental firm AV1):

In January 2019, Gothenburg, Sweden-based rental firm AV1 employed the Bose ShowMatch system, alongside Bose F1 Model 812 portable loudspeakers and Bose Panaray 802 Series IV loudspeakers, at the FIS Cross country skiing World Cup held in Ulricehamn, Sweden. Returning to Ulricehamn for the third year and with over 40,000 tickets sold, the event is not only a great skiing competition but also a folk festival with visitors coming from all over Scandinavia and the rest of the world. The chief directive was to cover all audience areas with clear sound; the job required nearly a whole week of scaffolding setup and loudspeaker installation in advance. AV1 utilized Bose loudspeakers to provide sound around the competition course, the bleachers and stadium area. In total, 38 ShowMatch modules and eight SMS118 subs were used around the course. 18 F1 loudspeakers, 16 F1 subwoofers and 26 Panaray 802 loudspeakers were used at the start and finish line area of the stadium. Jörgen Börling, AV1 Key Account Manager, noted, “Everything in regards to the audio setup around the FIS Cross Country World Cup project worked very smoothly. FIS advised this was one of the better-distributed audio setups they had ever experienced hosting the World Cup. It was the first time we used our Bose ShowMatch array system in snowy winter conditions around the course, and we were more than happy with how the system performed even in this rough weather. As always, we were very pleased with the support we got from Bose before and during the event and we are glad that we chose to utilize Bose products for the World Cup weekend.”

Final performance of Le Luci Della Centrale Elettrica, Milan, Italy (rental firm Sonique Live):

Also in January, loyal ShowMatch user Sonique Live, a rental firm based in Brughero, Italy, employed the ShowMatch setup for the final performance by Italian band Le Luci Della Centrale Elettrica (a project led by songwriter Vasco Brondi) at Teatro Nazionale in Milan. During this two-hour-long poetic concert, Brondi shared his musical portfolio from over the last ten years. The ShowMatch system was employed to provide quality sound, coverage-area consistency, and vocal clarity.

Barack Obama Boulevard naming ceremony in Los Angeles (rental firm Hollywood Sound Systems):

In May, the city of Los Angeles hosted a naming ceremony and street festival in the Baldwin Hills / Crenshaw neighborhood of Los Angeles, to celebrate the official renaming of a south L.A. street as “President Barack Obama Boulevard.” With an estimated 20,000 people in attendance, the day was highlighted by presentations from L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, City Council President Herb Wesson, and other community leaders – and mainstage performances featuring artists Doug E. Fresh, Yo-Yo, BJ The Chicago Kid, Battlecat, Kurupt, Alex Isley, Sheila E., and others. Hollywood Sound Systems selected ShowMatch line arrays for the event, including remote delay-tower locations supporting large-scale LCD/video screens, providing clear audio for both the spoken word presentations and the live musical performances.

New Systems Acquired by leading rental/production companies (New Delhi, India-based Audio Factory Pvt. Ltd. and Mexico City-based Castelein Audiovisual Services):

Audio Factory Pvt. Ltd., one of India’s largest integrated production companies, recently acquired a new Bose Professional ShowMatch system and has been regularly employing it as a go-to solution for its rental clients. Supporting numerous regional events and serving international-artist tours, the company’s ShowMatch inventory currently consists of 96 modules in total – 48 ShowMatch line array modules and 48 SMS 118 subwoofers – sufficient to handle any sound reinforcement situation from small corporate gigs all the way up to stadium-size shows. “When I first heard the system a few months ago, I felt the sound quality was extremely good,” stated Vivek Vij, Director of Audio Factory Private Ltd. “I immediately compared ShowMatch with other systems on the market and then realized that the quality of the sound from ShowMatch was really amazing. You can listen to this system for many hours without fatigue – and it is very consistent. The audio quality does not diminish over time – which is exactly what I need to provide to our clients: a system that consistently provides clean, clear audio. We made the commitment to add Bose to our rental inventory. Since we started using our ShowMatch system, we have employed it on a wide variety of shows, from a corporate event for Harley Davidson to a concert at the Grand Hyatt Goa in Bambolim, India, featuring Pritam, the multi-award-winning Indian composer, record producer and music director for Bollywood films. It is a very flexible system.”

Castelein Audiovisual Services of Mexico City recently decided to upgrade its audio equipment with a ShowMatch DeltaQ array system to satisfy the needs of its broad range of customers and applications. These include many of Mexico’s top event planners, PR and promotion agencies, production companies, and even other AV rental companies. Due to this wide range of client projects, Castelein seeks to have all necessary equipment to fulfill needs ranging from a small conference of less than 100 people, to a multi-session congress or a musical show in a 1000-seat venue. Company director Aymeric Castelein, who has a professional background in business administration, notes four key elements that helped tip the scale towards ShowMatch. First and foremost, the system’s impressive power to size and weight ratio, considering how compact the modules and subwoofers are, which speeds up assembly and, at the same time, satisfies the aesthetic requirements of corporate events. Secondly, the fact that these are passive speakers (and consequently lightweight), which makes it easier to work in venues with a small weight allowance or without rigging points. Then came the local support and service provided by the Bose team. And finally, the opportunity to strengthen Castelein’s relationship with the brand, since the Bose name is well-known in the industry and readily accepted by the company’s corporate customers. “I like to see our suppliers as allies, because we can help each other and grow together. With Bose Professional we have assumed the challenge of positioning the ShowMatch DeltaQ system among different production and rental companies and sound engineers, and we’re working very hard to achieve that goal,” concludes Aymeric Castelein.
