Josh Abbott Band’s Front-of-House Engineer, Trevor Babbitt, Reflects on ShowMatch System from Bose Professional

Framingham, MA – Country favorites the Josh Abbott Band are renowned for heartfelt songwriting and traditional instrumentation. The independent band has accumulated over 80 million total streams, 18 million YouTube/VEVO views, over 1.5 million single sales, and 230,000 album sales. With a following like that, it’s important night after night to get the band’s sound just right, and Trevor Babbitt is the man behind the board. Trevor spent his early days as a drummer, and then studied audio engineering at South Plains University. Ten years ago, he signed on as monitor and front-of-house engineer for the Josh Abbott Band.

Trevor is among the many FOH engineers who have recently been experiencing the high-performance audio of the ShowMatch DeltaQ line array system from Bose Professional. “I recently mixed a show with Josh Abbott and William Clark Green on the ShowMatch system. It was kind of a song-swap acoustic set instead of the full band, so with that kind of minimal instrumentation, the audience could really hear everything,” stated Trevor. “When I first walked into the venue and saw the Bose system, I did not know what to expect. But once I used it, I was really impressed with ShowMatch. The system seemed smooth – I didn’t notice much comb filtering throughout the room and the sound was consistent. I didn’t have to do a lot of EQ’ing – maybe a hair of 4K and 800 Hz, which is pretty typical for Josh’s vocal. The system reacted well to being driven hard – it didn’t get harsh, and I was impressed with it overall. The high end sounded really crisp and clear, and the vocals cut nicely.”
