BROOKFIELD ACADEMY STUDENT BUILDS THEATER’S NEW PORTABLE TECH BOOTH WITH THE HELP OF NEUTRIK USA

LAKEWOOD, NJ – Neutrik, designer and manufacturer of the XX series XLR cable connector, recently donated a variety of its best-selling connectivity products to Brookfield Academy student, Joey Steven, to help him create a new portable tech booth for the Academy’s theater. The theater’s tech booth project consists of a sound board and light board desk, a wireless microphone tower with belt pack recharging drawers, and a computer recording pod that was equipped with a custom built hydraulic monitor lift.

“Neutrik’s donation gives our theater the benefit of having a great mobile tech booth on-site to be used in the school’s theater and dance productions, says Joey Steven, Eagle Scout candidate and Brookfield Academy Theater’s technical director. “The booth was created with many different segments, each built on casters that can be rolled in/out of the room and then connected, depending on what each performance requires. We needed something that could withstand the frequent changing of chords. Neutrik’s connectors immediately came to mind because of their durability, convenience and ease of use.

Neutrik’s donation included numerous USB and FireWire connectors, which are ideal for audio networking and integration of computer-based equipment into audio systems, as well as its 20 Amp PowerCon®, a locking 3 conductor AC connector with contacts for line, neutral and pre-mating ground contact that replaces appliance couplers wherever a very rugged solution in combination with a locking device is needed. Neutrik also donated several of its Locking ¼ Phone Jacks, a 3 pole solution available in both panel mount or cable in-line versions that provides stable and secure connections where accidental disconnect or shock and vibration may occur.

Currently a sophomore at the Wisconsin Academy, Steven hopes to utilize this project as an example of his leadership and dedication in order to achieve Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.

“Neutrik USA is committed to hands-on education through product donations, says Jim Cowan, president of Neutrik USA. “We continually look at ways in which we can make a positive impact and contribute to student advancement. This project at Brookfield Academy will not only benefit the entire school, but will also help a deserving student achieve his own personal goals.

Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America organization, and in order to receive this honor, each Eagle Scout candidate must complete a variety of requirements including holding a leadership role in a Boy Scout troop, completing various merit badges and completing an Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project. The project must be service oriented and requires numerous hours of leadership to complete. The completed project must demonstrate to the council that the candidate is dedicated and responsible.

“Creating this tech booth in my school was a huge undertaking; I wouldn’t have been able to achieve this feat without the help of Neutrik USA, continues Steven. “This is a great way to showcase my dedication to my school, as well as hopefully achieve Eagle Scout status, which would be a great personal accomplishment.

Neutrik manufactures a wide array of XLR connectors and receptacles, jacks and plugs, speaker connectors and accessories for the professional audio industry. Neutrik USA is located at 195 Lehigh Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
