Celestion Offers a Sonic Nod to the 70’s with the New G10 Greenback Impulse Responses

Ipswich, UK (July XX, 2019) — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers whose classic guitar tones have made the company famous as the voice of rock and roll, has added the very popular G10 Greenback guitar speaker to its celebrated family of Impulse Responses. The new G10 Greenback IR, along with the complete collection of other genuine Celestion guitar speaker tones, is available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.

Developed to recapture the legendary rock sound of Celestion’s 1970s 10-inch guitar speakers, the G10 Greenback offers a complex, enthralling mid-range and smooth, vintage top-end, with a ceramic magnet that provides that instantly familiar classic rock sound. It has always been a 10-inch guitar speaker that thinks it’s a 12. Delivering a warm-bodied character and distinctive throaty growl reminiscent of its 12-inch counterpart, the G10 Greenback adds real class in small cabs and gives rise to a raunchy, full-bodied tone, rich in low-end thump in a 4×10 formation.

Now the Celestion G10 Greenback speaker has been captured as a speaker Impulse Response and is available to download as a perfect digital representation.

The G10 Greenback IR was recorded using three classic, professional microphones – the Sennheiser MD421, the Shure SM57 and the Royer R-121 ribbon mic. Each of these mics were placed in six unique positions around the speaker, titled with the IR files as Thin, Fat, Balanced, Bright, Dark and Dark 2. An additional rear mic position was also used for recording the open back cabinets. These positions are all fully adjustable by the user when using the speaker impulse response files within a DAW, IR plugin or amp modeller. In addition to the three studio mics included with this IR pack, a Neumann TLM107 room mic was also used to offer the user to a huge range of tonal options.

The G10 Greenback speaker IR is available to download individually in five different cabinet configurations, including:

· 1×12 (open back)

· 1×12 (closed back)

· 2×12 (open back)

· 2×12 (closed back)

· 4×12 (closed back)

And all the G10 Greenback IRs can be purchased as a collection for a nearly 50% discount.

As with all of the Celestion Impulse Responses, the new G10 Greenback IRs are downloaded in .WAV format for compatibility with most DAWs, IR plug-ins and amp modelling software.

The new G10 Greenback Impulse Responses join all the other genuine Celestion acclaimed guitar speaker Impulse Responses such as the: A-TypeCelestion BlueCelestion CreamCelestion GoldClassic Lead 80, Heritage G12H 55HzHeritage G12M,G12 EVH, G12K-100, G12-35XC, G12T-75 G12-50GL Lynchback, G12-H150 Redback, G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo CreambackV-Type, Vintage 30 and other models as well as Bass IRs including the BN10-200X, BN15-300X, PULSE10, PULSE12 and PULSE15.

About Celestion Impulse Responses

Celestion IRs, which capture the essential behavior of the cabinet in the specific space in which it was recorded, including the frequency and phase response of single drivers as well as the interaction of multiple speakers, offer the user significant benefits. In both recording and live production, Celestion IRs enable the desired tone to be precisely and consistently reproduced regardless of the music recording or live sound environment. And IR users can escape the limitations of a single mic and cabinet setup and explore a universe of possibilities to create the perfect tone. Once you find a tone that you love, it can be precisely recreated, in the studio or on the road, time after time. And the IRs allow Celestion customers to audition specific models before purchasing one or more physical speakers.

Celestion IR digital downloads are available in uncompressed, industry standard .WAV format at 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz sample rates at 24 bit depth, in lengths of 200 and 500 milliseconds Once the files are downloaded and unzipped, users simply load the IRs into a convolution plug-in in their DAW or into other processing hardware. These formats will work in all known hardware capable of loading IRs, and for the most popular hardware Celestion have already grouped together the correct formats. Guitar processor manufacturers supported include (but are not limited to) Atomic Amps, Fractal Audio Systems, Kemper, Line 6, Logidy, Positive Grid, Two Notes, Headrush and Yamaha. The Celestion IR files may be downloaded in the sample rate and length appropriate for the hardware being used or as a complete package of all rates and lengths. Certain third party hardware requires the files to be converted into a proprietary format before use.
