Don Henley released “The Boys of Summer,” the chart-topping single and extraordinary video in early Autumn 1984, creating anticipation for the album that followed. His second post-Eagles solo album, “Building the Perfect Beast,” was the blockbuster that included “All She Wants to Do is Dance,” “Sunset Grill,” “Driving With Your Eyes Closed,” the heartfelt “A Month of Sundays,” “Not Enough Love in the World,” and the “The Boys of Summer,” easily surpassing any list of the Eighties’ best songs. Henley dominates the entire album with the confident voice of a leading man, while veteran producer/songwriter Danny Kortchmar leads a cast of incredible talents, making it all work like a charm.
