The new group E.Q., short for Ejyptsian Queen, is recording their debut album at Ocean Way Recording in Hollywood. Members of the group are daughters of the renowned singer/songwriters Womack & Womack, and grandchildren of the legendary Sam Cooke. This historic project marks nearly half a century and three generations recording in the same studios designed and built in the 1950s by Bill Putnam and updated by Allen Sides.

Sam Cooke produced “It’s All Over Now” by the Valentinos/Womack Bros. at United Recording, now Ocean Way, in 1964, a song which was subsequently covered by artists such as the Rolling Stones. Womack & Womack recorded their classic album “Love Wars” at Ocean Way in 1983. Cecil and Linda Womack recorded their last album as Womack & Womack in 1993, relocated to Africa, and have been recording with their seven children as The House of Zekkariyas. The third generation siblings of the talented family dynasty, E.Q., is now recording their debut album “Never Before,” with keyboardist Joel Scott, and engineering mainstay Reggie Dozier.
